The Millenium Centre

Located in the heart of Winnipeg’s downtown just a stone’s throw from Portage and Main, The Millennium Centre is a heritage building which once housed the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and has since earned a reputation as one of Winnipeg’s loveliest and most impressive venues. Originally slated to be demolished for a surface parking lot in 1978, the building was saved by Heritage Winnipeg and has since become one of the most impressive and unique venues in the city.
The Celebration Hall offers approximately 6,000 square feet of space, enough to accommodate 300 guests at tables or 350 guests for a standing reception, making it perfect for large companies or events that have a lot of tables, chairs and lounge areas.
Do you have a smaller team? Then just book the Tapestry Room, which can accommodate 40 guests. This space features a large mahogany fireplace, original tapestry on the walls and is the perfect spot for a fancy, intimate evening with friends.
Nonsuch Brewing Co. Taproom
Nonsuch Brewing Co. is one of Manitoba’s up-and-coming breweries and is located in a fantastic spot in the East Exchange District.
Local craft beer superfans will recognize this as the old PEG Brew Co. location, but the interior has been treated to a complete overhaul including slate-black walls, deep, comfortable seating on antique sofas and chairs, and a ceiling made up of golden umbrellas.
With capacity for 75 and seating for 45, Nonsuch Brewing Co. offers a small, intimate venue which is perfect for small offices and close-knit teams.
The taproom currently features seven draught beers, as well as seasonal and small batches. But if you’re looking for a more structured event, they also offer guided tastings, beer and food pairings, brewery tours and even a photographer who will be available to document the night for you.
The Park Theatre & Lounge
Located in South Osborne, The Park Theatre & Lounge has a long and storied history — first as a movie theatre that opened in 1915, which was in operation until the mid-1980s. The theatre went through a tumultuous few decades where it was renovated, abandoned and eventually seized by the City of Winnipeg.
Then in 2005, The Park Theatre reopened as a movie rental store, cafe and cinema. Over the years since, it has evolved into an event space, featuring theatrical performances, live music and of course, private events such as weddings and corporate functions.
The Park Theatre has two areas which can be rented out for these private events. The first is the main venue, which seats 250 (386 standing) and features the large stage and classic theatre-style vibes. The second is the front lobby area, which also features a small stage and caps out at 75 people. Both spaces have fully-stocked bars with local craft beer on tap, cocktails, popcorn and a wonderfully historic atmosphere.

Barn Hammer Brewing Co. Taproom
With its high ceilings, warm lights and rustic feel, Barn Hammer’s taproom offers a cozy and intimate space for a holiday party.
Choose from the many beers on tap, including a variety of seasonal brews and test batches. Get comfortable at the bar or at any of the several large tables lined up along the opposite wall, and pull out a cribbage board or some cards for a casual evening of laughs and memory-making.
The venue also allows outside food, so you have the option to cater your own event with food from home or through a food delivery service like SkipTheDishes.
With a maximum capacity of 50 people, Barn Hammer is the perfect space for smaller offices and workplace teams. There’s no fee to rent the space, but they do require a minimum spend of $600 on drinks, soda and snacks purchased from the taproom for a 3-hour booking.

The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre
Winnipeg has no shortage of jaw-dropping venues, and The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre (or ‘The Met’) doesn’t disappoint.
This unique space was designed by the famous architect C. Howard Crane, and first opened its doors in 1919 during the Golden Age of Cinema. This glamorous “movie palace” offered movies and live entertainment to the citizens of Winnipeg for 68 years until it closed in 1987.
Since reopening in 2012 as The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre, the space has become well-known throughout the city for its elegant decor, layered balconies and rooftop patio.
Larger groups will want to make the most of The Grand Hall, a sweeping space which can accommodate up to 550 guests, and offers full catering if you’re planning to treat the team to dinner.
