6 Must-Attend Winnipeg Conferences for Early 2016

It’s hard to believe that we’re almost halfway through December, but around this time of year it’s normal for businesses to be thinking and planning well into 2016 and beyond.

Planning a continued growth strategy and being prepared for the coming year also means taking stock of the opportunities for business development, networking and growth that are available.

With that in mind, here are a few of the conferences coming to Winnipeg in 2016 for you to check out and make the most of. Mark your calendars, it’s going to be a busy year!

Western Business Outlook 2016: Manitoba

This day-long event is presented by the Conference Board of Canada, The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, and MNP LLP. In its second year, Western Business Outlook aims to provide participants with an in-depth look at Manitoba’s economic future for 2016 and beyond.

The event will be led by Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, Glen Hodgson, along with Deputy Chief Economist, Pedro Antunes. The conference will offer business owners and policy leaders an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Manitoba’s future from a municipal, provincial, federal and multinational perspective.

MBiz Breakfast Series: Presented by Edge Marketing Strategies, featuring Mariette Mulaire, President & CEO, World Trade Centre Winnipeg

January 27, 2016

Location: Norwood Hotel, 112 Marion St.

Cost: $47.50 – 57.50 per seat. Table pricing available.

This breakfast, which is a part of the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce’s MBiz Breakfast series, offers attendees the unique opportunity to learn how to market their businesses, with expert advice from Mariette Mulaire, President & CEO, World Trade Centre Winnipeg, and a chance to network with other business professionals in Winnipeg.

SHEday 2016: Presented by Economic Development Winnipeg and Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba

January 15, 2016

Location: RBC Convention Centre

Cost: $49 + GST

Presented by Economic Development Winnipeg and the Women’s Enterprise Centre of Manitoba, SHEday 2016 is a leadership event for female business owners and entrepreneurs in our province.

The event will feature 10 keynote presentations from inspiring women in business who will share their thoughts on the importance of teamwork, financial wellness and building your personal brand. Attendees will receive lunch, snacks and access to a headshot lounge as well as a speed mentoring session.

Manitoba Ag Days
January 19, 20, 21, 2016

Location: Brandon Keystone Centre. This one’s not technically Winnipeg, but a large double-double and a 2-hour drive West will get you there.

Cost: Admission is free

The Manitoba Ag Day Show is an exposition of agricultural production expertise, technology and equipment that attracts exhibitors, businesspeople and visitors from across Canada and the United States.

This free expo provides attendees with the opportunities to speak to representatives in the areas of agricultural technology, business and equipment, as well as seminars and information sessions throughout the entire event.

Winnipeg Franchise Expo

March 5-6, 2016

Location: RBC Convention Centre

Cost: $5 at the door

The Winnipeg Franchise Expo is a two-day event where business owners can meet face-to-face with representatives from top franchise and businesses who are looking to expand.

In addition to the opportunity to see what sorts of franchise opportunities are available to them, there are a variety of free information sessions which cover everything from legal advice and financial strategies to marketing plans.

EPIC Technology Day

April 12, 2016

Location: Victoria Inn Hotel and Convention Centre

Cost: Registration opens in March, so stay tuned.

Presented by EPIC Information Solutions, Technology Day aims to expose Manitoba’s IT community to up-and-coming technologies. See our coverage of the last Tech Day this fall.

Typically attended by over 500 attendees from Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan, EPIC Tech Day is known as one of the best-run partner events in North America. It offers two keynote sessions, over 50 breakout sessions, a Solutions Showcase featuring 30 industry leaders, private high-level sessions for executive level professionals, one-on-one strategy sessions with vendors and hands-on demonstrations.
